Searching for answers…1998-2001 Began collecting musical ideas on cassette tape. Expressed an interest in making music “someday”. 2001 Started college and majored in Neuroscience (pre-med). Experimented with Fruity Loops production software sporadically. 2002 Began showing an interest in contemporary history through the lens of race. 2003 Visited Detroit on an influential volunteer trip. The extreme racial segregation & poverty left a strong mark.2004 Took a key class, “Sociology 103: Social Problems”. Became intrigued with race, class, and inequality in America. An idea took root: go to law school, then run for office to fight inequality with progressive education legislation. Met the love of my life. 2005 Graduated with honors in Neuroscience and joined Teach For America. Trained in Philadelphia (witnessed more racial segregation and extreme poverty). Went to New York City for teaching assignment. Optimism rode high. 2005-2006 Worked as a middle school science teacher in a high-poverty area of Washington Heights. Lived in Harlem. Studied issues of race more closely. (Also tinkered with Acid Pro 4.0 music software).2006-2007 Year 2 of Teach For America assignment. Moved to Washington Heights to immerse myself in the school community. The experience was powerful yet harrowing. Became disillusioned; realized the systemic inequality was too big, I couldn’t “make a difference” for my students fast enough. Became severely depressed. 2007 Left Teach For America. Relationship ended in heartbreak. Moved back to Florida. Worked briefly in college admissions. Depression worsened. 2008 Moved to Utah in search of clarity. Served tables and landed a teaching job at a small school. Struggled to “find myself”. Began making Hip-Hop beats with FL Studio music software as a way to deal with depression. Discovered House Music and House Dance; slowly began to heal. 2008-2009 Began DJing house music. Established “Danny Dance” identity. Started recording dance videos on Youtube. House Music took a firm grip over my life, and I beat my depression. Found a renewed sense of purpose in the music. Worked in marketing and tutored on the side. 2010 DJ career started to look promising. Bought Logic Pro 9 music software and began learning how to produce House Music. Continued to upload dance videos to Youtube. First signs of serious ADHD begin to appear. 2010 Moved back to Florida “to keep growing as an artist”. Began releasing music online. Started a weekly DJ podcast. Picked up a job in marketing for work.2011 Released first EP. Also began releasing songs weekly through SDHC House Music Collection (self-imposed practice). Continued to upload dance videos sporadically. 2012 Started Dance Is A Feeling Records, releasing own music officially. Headlined two parties: one in Salt Lake City and another in Guatemala City. Late in the year, began to feel “stuck”. Took a 3-month break from music. Symptoms of ADHD worsened; depression returned.2013 Returned to music. Quit day job in marketing. Worked briefly at another marketing job, but struggled due to health. Present: Planning to move to San Francisco in 6 weeks. Hoping to find myself again and give my dreams in music a solid shot. Michael Jordan and Albert Einstein allegedly had ADD/ADHD, and they made it. I’ll look to them for inspiration.Also, I just found those old tapes again…
